Pedro Morales dead at 76

  Pedro Morales, the energetic Puerto Rican star who rose to become WWWF world champion from 1971 to 1973, has died.  He was 76.  The news was first reported by Hugo Savinovich on his Facebook page and confirmed by WWE.

  To Ontario's independent wrestling fans, he was Otto Bahn, the short-statured, but loud and swaggering manager; to friends and family, he was the funny and loving Peter Corneil.  All feel the loss following his passing in the early hours of January 21 at the age of 43.

Mean Gene passes away

  "Mean" Gene Okerlund, the voice of the WWE and one of their biggest wrestling personalities in the eighties, has died at the age of 86.  A broadcast journalist and a disc jockey, Okerlund began his career in the American Wrestling Association (AWA) in 1971 and then moved on to the World Wrestling Federation, where he would make his mark as an interviewer, setting the standard in the WWE for some time to come.

Pittsburgh's "Hurricane" Bobby Hunt dead at 85

  Bobby passed away on December 27, 2018, at age 85.  A mainstay on Pittsburgh's "Studio Wrestling" since 1963, Bobby was a respected hand in the ring and was considered to be one of the best dropkick specialists in the business.

Raul Mata

Raul Mata passes away

DECEMBER 20, 2018

  Raul Mata, a former EMLL champion in the '60s, died at the age of 71.  He held the Mexican national light heavyweight title for more than four years and the NWA world light heavyweight title for three.  He had greatest runs in the U.S. in Los Angeles where he held the NWA Americas tag team title with Dory Dixon, Ray Mendoze, Mando Guerrero and others.

Durso 'Slipped' his way into Pittsburgh wrestling lore

  Frank Durso passed away on December 7, 2018, after a long illness.  On Saturday nights and at professional wrestling shows around the Pittsburgh area, Frank is remembered as a brawler who would do anything to win.
