CAC Board Members Among Those Honored in St. Louis

If you were lucky enough to be in St. Louis this past weekend, we are sure that you had a fantastic time.

Of course, your level of enjoyment would fluctuate depending on where you were in St. Louis, but if you were at the Southern Illinois Championship Wrestling fan fest and St. Louis Wrestling Hall of Fame Induction ceremony then we are positive that you'll be smiling at the memories of the event for years to come.

Congratulations to SICW founder, promoter and organizer of the fan fest, Mr. Herb Simmons for what all accounts report was a very successful and fun filled weekend.

As part of this years activities, both JJ Dillon and Gerry Brisco were inducted into the 2023 Class of the St. Louis Wrestling Hall of Fame.  Our own Darla Staggs, CAC Executive Board Benevolent Director, was honored with the 2023 Sam Muchnick Award while, perhaps, the evening's biggest surprise came when Herb Simmons was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Herb, who serves on the CAC's Associate Board  as our benevolent outreach ambassador and membership communicator posted some great pictures of the event (one of which is used to illustrate this article)  on his Facebook page, along with this statement...

"These are picture of when you're trying to be that strong individual, and making people think that nothing upsets you. It didn't work here, the surprise they pulled over my eyes in presenting me the 2023 Life Time Achievement Award was overwhelming.  Especially when you have the legends standing in the ring thanking you for what you continue to do.

It was heart warming, and no matter how tough we try to be sometimes the tears will flow. This was one of those time. 

Thank you to all that took part in this and, to all the great SICW fans."

The CAC would like to extend our sincerest congratulations to Herb, Darla and absolutely EVERYONE involved in making this weekend's events in St. Louis the buzz of the wrestling world! 

Next up reunion-wise, of course, is the CAC's 57th Annual Reunion and award nights in Las Vegas, Nevada.  The event, to be held at the Plaza Hotel and Casino is just over three months away and tickets are going fast.  Please plan to join us for the longest continually running professional wrestling get together in existence.
